One of the most challenging issues in long term care is the high rate of turnover. Explore how the CNA Upskilling Program (CUSP) addresses this issue through additional training. CUSP empowers CNAs, by enhancing their skills and offering them a career pathway within your skilled nursing facility.
Benefits of CUSP:
The goal of the CNA Upskilling Program is to increase and retain the CNA workforce in the LTC/SNF sector by instituting professional recognition of standardized advanced education and training levels, with statewide recognized job titles and standardized financial rewards. Investing in your CNAs by participating in CUSP, you contribute to the delivery of highest-quality care to your residents.
CUSP CNA Training
CUSP currently is comprised of four levels, each level designed to elevate the skills of CNA’s to take on additional responsibilities. Each level is achieved through the completion of standardized and approved educational courses, facilitated by our partners NAHCA and CARES®.
CUSP Supervisor Training
Supervisor curriculum and materials are provided to ensure that facility staff are trained to oversee CNA CUSP skill competency checks and to provide program oversight.
Advantages of CUSP

SNF employers can participate independently or as a CNAP award recipient.
***Each time a CNA completes an upskilling level, it’s essential for your facility to follow the CUSP MOU/registry process, ($30 per levels II-IV; as a CNAP award recipient, fee is reimbursed), in order for CNAP to verify your CNAs upskilling achievements.
