Activities Assistant

An Activity Assistant coordinates the activity program to meet the needs, interests, and capabilities of the residents. They conduct recreation activities with groups or individuals, and promote activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, games, music, dramatics, social recreation, and hobbies, considering the needs and interests of individual members.

Activities Director

The Activity Director is responsible for directing the development, implementation, supervision and ongoing evaluation of the activities program. This includes scheduling activities, both individual and groups, implementing and/or delegating implementation of these programs, monitoring and evaluating the response to the programs to determine if the activities meet the assessed needs of the resident.


Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, recreation and leisure studies, etc. One-two years of professional experience in a social or recreational program for elders. Experience in supervising others. Qualified therapeutic recreational specialist preferred or an activities professional who is licensed or registered by the state preferred.
